Cooking
with Beer
|
Greg hoping they saved some for sausage on our road
trip in the New Orleans area. |
We
love cooking so we plan to share some of our favorite recipes.
Here is one that uses some of our other products - hard cider.
Enjoy!
Apple
Crisp
4 cups sliced, peeled apples
1/4 cup hard cider
1/2 tsp almond extract & vanilla
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
6 tbs butter
Place
apples and liquids in a cast iron skillet or 10x6 pan. Sift
flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl and add butter.
Cream mixture until it is course. Sprinkle over apples. Bake
at 350 for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve with
ice cream or yogurt. Yields 6-8 servings.
Official
Recipe
From Vintage Vicksburg, a cookbook we got on our
New Orleans vacation in 2004 when we also visited the Abita
Brewery. We have had their Abby Ale, Turbo Dog and SOS, double
check our beer list to see if it's
in stock. For every bottle of SOS
sold Abita will donate 75¢ to the rescue and restoration
of the environment, industry and individuals fighting to survive
the disastrous oil spill. This unfiltered Weizen Pils is made
with Pilsner and Wheat malts. It is hopped and dry hopped
with Sterling and German Perle hops. It has a brilliant gold
color, a sweet malt flavor, and a pleasant bitterness and
aroma. Or as Pat would say it's a "yummy session beer"
so drink, enjoy and support!
