Cooking

Celebrating
another anniversary with some of our favorite customers.
Thanks for the support! |
We
love beer and cooking so we plan to share some of our favorite
recipes. For our opening we made Chocolate Stout Cake. The
full recipe for it is from Bon
Appétit September 2002. Here are just a few short
cuts to making an incredible cake. Enjoy!
Cake
Short Cuts
Use a box cake mix and substitute beer for the liquid of either
milk or water.
Good combinations include:
Stout and chocolate
Fruit beer and pound cake or chocolate -
Great use for overly sweet beers like Harpoons Raspberry
UFO
Pumpkin beer with spice cake
If
you are making a chocolate cake I still recommend making the
original icing. It is easy although not necessarily quick.
For icing
2 cups whipping cream
1 pound bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate,
chopped
Bring
cream to simmer in heavy medium saucepan. Remove from heat.
Add chopped chocolate and whisk until melted and smooth. Refrigerate
until icing is spreadable, stirring frequently, about 2 hours.
